Uk School Teacher looking for smallest / lightest possible working version of PTVS for 15/16 year old students

Jul 6, 2015 at 9:26 PM
I,m an ex software developer who has turned school teacher.
I want to install PTVS / VS express but my schools machines are old.
What is the smallest possible footprint / system requirements to get PTVS working?
I really want my kids to have real debugging etc. but my uk state school's machines are pretty underpowered / nearly full.
Can someone advise a method to get smallest possible working PTVS.
I don't need anything else (I love c# and etc but I just need python for my kids)
Can someone help?

Please post on, as we are no longer actively monitoring this site.

The smallest footprint is to install the Visual Studio Shells and then PTVS 2.1. Alternatively, you can install Visual Studio 2013 Express for Desktop and PTVS 2.2 (we don't support the shells anymore, and VS 2015 does not have a small footprint at all).

Cancel that, it is now called Microsoft Visual Studio Community (2015)
