[SOLVED] No Python Projects with RC on VS2012

Sep 17, 2013 at 5:00 PM
Hi,

I upgraded PTVS from beta to RC with uninstalling PTVS beta and reinstalling RC.
The PTVS appear in the about dialog and I have the python settings in the options dialog.

But I can not create or open python projects.
When I select new project, no python projects are available.

When I open an existing Solution with a python project the soution explorer says "incompatible project"

Can someone help me?

Thank you very much

Unfortunately, it sounds like your upgrade hasn't gone completely smoothly. I suspect that the uninstall didn't work correctly - we had an issue in beta that should have been resolved for RC, but since it doesn't occur until uninstall, it may be the issue.

Have a look in Add/Remove Programs (aka Programs and Features) and remove everything claiming to be Python Tools for Visual Studio. Then you'll have to reinstall RC, but it should be clean enough at that point that it will work.

Yes, this did the trick. I uninstalled and installed RC again. And it is working now.
