Python Interactive Standalone

description

The REPL interpreter in Visual Studio is great. It's become my favorite interpreter for Windows. However, I don't always want to open Visual Studio to use it. It'd be nice to have it in it's own window/process independently.

Would it be possible to make the Interpreter standalone as a small install / quick load - kind of like an IDLE replacement?

It is technically feasible, though we don't have any plans or resources for doing it.

A potential workaround may be to install Express for Desktop, which starts much quicker than full VS, and also has its own settings (window positions, etc.). It will also have $attach debugging support, which a true standalone version may not.
