Create a new django project, add virtual env, activate, install django into it.
Publish project, import publish settings, on the preview page click preview.

Sometimes this work, sometimes it doesn't. I've seen it fail on both 2010 and 2012. When it fails, you'll get a message box that says:

Target GenerateGlobalPublishSetting Failed
