Reviews for this release

Visual Studio brings python into the limelight. Instead of some half-cooked IDE out there (you know who you are), Microsoft Visual Studio is the slickest most seamless IDE tool in the world.

Excellent tool guys. Integration with Visual Studio tripled the development speed for me and caused my return to 'hey, I can implement this in Python' idea. Keep up good work.

So fast and easy to use, this makes VS easily the best Python IDE since I started coding Python 5 years ago. Thank you!

This is the best IDE for Python. I hated Python when I had to use it with eclipse or text editor, but with Python Tools I absolutely adore it.

We're in our first week of training on Django and Python, and while the rest of the class is grunting along on their Macs/Linux machines using text editors...I'm gliding along on Windows with Visual Studio + intellisense + great user experience! Thanks for this tool!! Microsoft, give these guys a bonus!!!

I would change the title from Python Tools for Visual Studio 1.5 to Python Tools 1.5 for Visual Studio. We are way past version 1.5, which in those days was known as Visual C++ :-) Installation has just finished after appearing to hang for 3 minutes. Started VS 2012 and can see Python in New Project/File. Execute interface seems awkward. Need to assign a shortcut.

This is a huge time saver when used with ESRI's Geoprocessor (arcgisscripting) Python class. Now I don't have to wait 30 seconds to find out if I have a simple syntax error. The install and setup for Visual Studio was amazingly fast.

I am not a python dev, but I am definately gonna use this to teach myself. This looks much better than any python IDE I have seen anywhere else.

PTVS is *exactly* what I needed as an alternative to Matlab/MEX -- it saved me from a miserable life of compromise. A setup guide:

I waited! Cool!

Excellent tool. I'm having a small problem where closing the add reference would sometimes cause the IDE to crash (which I will report if/when I figure out how to reproduce it), but otherwise it's awesome. Good work :)
