Are you asking for a way to ensure that finally blocks will run if you abort your unit tests while they are running? Right now, we simply kill the Python process immediately if you cancel, and since we support arbitrary Python interpreters (such as IronPython or custom builds) and arbitrary test runners (such as Django or Blender), there is no way we can do this.

We could create our own test runner that might be able to support it, but that would hurt more people than it helps, since it would likely not work on some interpreters and would completely block the use of other test runners. We also don't have the resources to create and maintain yet-another-test-runner, so we prefer to work within the constraints of those that already exist.
