Does this work with 64bit Python versions?

I notice only the 32bit installers are recommended...

it does. just make sure when you install distros, you select 64-bit. we default to 32-bit as it has the most available libs/pkgs.

You can also run it with both 32 and 64 bit versions (at least with different python versions; I have 32-bit Python 2.7 for my legacy code and 64-bit Python 3.3 for the new stuff), you just select which interpreter you want to use.

You can have 32-bit and 64-bit Python installed even for the same version, just make sure that you install them to different directories, as the installers will use the same path by default and overwrite each other's files (PTVS will get the correct install path for both from the registry automatically, so you won't need to configure anything specially there beyond correcting the path in Python installer).

Also, if you are developing web sites and intend to deploy to Azure, you want to be using 2.7 32-bit specifically, since that's what's running on the servers.
