I just installed Visual Studio 2013 and I am trying to start a new Django project.

I always get this error message that I can't figure out how to fix.

Any ideas?

Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Windows.Design.Host, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)

Hi! We used to see this error once in a while during 2.0 development, but for 2.0 RTM, we removed the dependency on Microsoft.Windows.Design.Host so that it would only get loaded when absolutely necessary, which is when you try to open a .xaml file in a IronPython WPF application.

It may be that we accidentally reintroduced a dependency on it in 2.1. Are you using a 2.1 dev build?

This happens because some installs of VS are missing that dll. There is more information in these work items:

It very well may have been the problem.

I ended up removing Python Tools and doing a reinstall. It fixed it.

Thanks for your help.
