Edit/Find and Replace behavior

Sep 20, 2013 at 11:10 PM
I wonder if there is a way to configure the Edit/Find and Replace window so that it will not start jumping around in the editor as soon as I type something. I find that very annoying as it moves the cursor to far away portions of code.

Thanks for any suggestions.

It's a core VS feature, and so it's not something that we control. That said, you can use Find in Files (Ctrl+Shift+F) to open the old Find and Replace dialog that does not start searching until you click a button. It has a combo box to select the scope of the search, and that defaults to the entire solution, but you can change it to current document only, and it will remember that choice.
