Inline figures with IPython/matplotlib doesn't return plots

I can't seem to get the inline plotting functionality to work. I use ptvs 2.0 on VS2012 with python 3.3 and IPython. When I use IPython notebook it works fine, and doing like this in VS: https://pytools.codeplex.com/discussions/440640 gives me the plots in a separate window. If i run this in IPython notebook:
%pylab inline
import numpy as np
x=np.random.rand(100)
plot(x)
I get the plot. But if I run it in REPL in VS (both with or without pylab) I get this and nothing more (ie. no plot):
Out[4]: [<matplotlib.lines.Line2D at 0x5b66cc0>]

What to do? Any help would be much appreciated.

i just did VS2012 + PTVS 2.0 Alpha + numpy + matplotlib + IPython & got the attached screenshot. seems to work.

just to double check, you have set the Interactive Mode to IPython, not IPython w/o Pylab, correct?
