How to get Django to run?

Jul 5, 2012 at 9:57 PM

I'm a Python noob and just trying to get Django "Hello World" to run in Visual Studio.

I have followed below steps:

  1. Installed Python Tools.
  2. Created new Django project.
  3. Added new Django application to the project.
  4. Added my test application to settings.py
  5. Added index view with "Hello World"

Now when I run, i get an exception in manage.py

On this line: from django.core.management import execute_manager

The exception is: "No module named django.core.management"

I have searched for a while but cannot find a solution.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Dmitriy

folks - i'd suggest starting with this tutorial on Django on PTVS: https://pytools.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Django%20Web%20Site%2fCloud%20Service%20Tutorial

video walk thru: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7A7VNnsA_8

that should clear up some of the questions.
