Numpy assertion fail error

Mar 22, 2012 at 1:38 PM

First of all, I'm relatively new to ironpython and numpy so I may have something backwards, but I'm having a problem using numpy for .Net.  I don't know if this is a pure numpy problem in which case it probably doesn't belong here, or if it has something to do with PVTS as well.

Every time I access a function in the numpy module, visual studio crashes with the following Visual C++ Runtime Library error dialog:

Assertion failed!

File: ..\rcs\npy_arraytypes.c

Line: 12848

Expression: Npy_INTERFACE(_builtin_descs[type])==NULL

I'm using visual studio 2010 integrated shell and tried various versions of IronPython from 2.7 to the newest, every time I get the same error.  In the ipy.exe command I doesn't seem to be a problem and never get the error.  Some help or guidance will be highly appreciated.  By the way, great work on great tools!

This is tracked with this bug but it's actually a NumPy for .NET issue (as the simple repro in there shows).  We've reported it to the NumPy guys and we're waiting to hear back.
